Define Qualities
There are two ways to define qualities. You can extract the qualities from the model or you can insert rows in the Qualities data grid and enter the quality values manually.
Define Qualities by Extracting from the Model
-
In the Define Geology > Models tab, in the Qualities data grid, click Extract from model.
All real, float, and calculated attributes in your model appear as rows in the Qualities data grid.
- After the qualities are extracted, check the Name, Weight by, and Report fields.
- The Weight by and Report fields are given a default setting, if you want to use a different method for weighting or reporting you must change the values in these fields.
- The Name field uses the attribute name of the model currently selected in the Models pane. Changing the name can be useful when the same quality exists under different names in the different models. For example, if two of your models have an attribute for gold grade calculated using different methods they could have different attribute names, such as au_id2 and au_ok. You could change the Name for the attribute to GOLD and associate it with the attribute in each model that contains values for gold grade.
- For any attribute you do not want to include in quality calculations, click in the row, and then click Delete.
Notes:
Tip: Extracting the qualities from the model is the recommended
method, except in cases when you have many attributes in your model. If the number of qualities in your model is large, it will be faster to add the qualities you want manually than to delete the ones you do not want after all qualities are extracted.
Define Qualities Manually
- In the Define Geology > Models tab, in the Qualities data grid, click Insert.
- In the new row, type the value for each column.
- To create rows for other qualities:
- Repeat steps one and two.
- In the Qualities data grid, click in the row you want to copy, and then click Create copy.
- In the Qualities data grid, right-click in the row you want to copy, to display the shortcut menu, and click Copy.
- In the Qualities data grid, click the field at the last column of the last row, and then press TAB.
A new row is added beneath the existing rows. The new row has identical values to the copied row for each column, except the Name. The Name for the new row is the Name of the copied row with _1 appended. If you have copied the row previously, and <Name>_1 exists in the data grid, the name for the new row appends the next incremental unused integer. For example, if Gold_1 and Gold_2 exist, the new row has the Name Gold_3.

A new row is added beneath the existing rows. The new row is blank, except the Name field. The default name given to the new quality is quality_1. If you have already added a blank row, which has the name quality_1, the next row added increments the number by one, so that the new row has the name quality_2.
A first row is added to the data grid.
